Christmas is held in very high regard at Ford House. It is celebrated in both Winter and Summer. During these times, the barn is be-decked in all its finery, with the old and the new, Old Saint Nicholas (before Coca-colaŽ got to him), Rudolph the red nosed reindeer and his merry team, twinkling and presents. Each year, there is a different accent. Some years, the theme has been verdant green and silver with a 12' Christmas tree and angels flying through the air. The colours of other years have been golden, rosy or even blue, silver and white. In 2004, Ken and Jenny used vibrant limes, pinks and purples. The decorations are always over the top.......always...... In 2005, it will be a woodland theme The best part of having Christmas at Ford House is that it is cold outside, with the potbelly stove going inside, so that the sumptuous dinner can be enjoyed, rather that passed because, in Australia it is often hot on Christmas Day. The main always remains the same, with homemade bread, turkey stuffed with dried fruit and nuts (no bread), marinated Harvey fillet of beef, with a variety of vegetables, each cooked in a different way. Dessert always includes plum pudding with brandy sauce, although there are other offerings available. Guests book well beforehand, either in couples or groups. By the end of the evening, there is enormous camaraderie. Often, the night closes close to midnight. Celebrate in high cheer and warm surroundings.... Celebrate a Wintry Christmas at Ford House |
